Chris Cormack (Kāi Tahu, Kāti Māmoe, Waitaha) is He Māwhitiwhiti Matihiko ki te Kākahu o Hine-Raraunga at Te Kāhui Raraunga, an iwi-led organisation advancing Māori data as a living taonga grounded in whakapapa, responsibility, and collective futures. Chris also serves on the Māori Advisory Group to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner, advocating for data governance frameworks that recognise Indigenous collective rights and Te Tiriti obligations. An active contributor to global Indigenous data sovereignty movements, Chris brings over 25 years’ experience in open-source technology and was a founding developer of Koha, the world’s first open-source library management system.
